COLLABORATION WORKSHOP
The ability to collaborate is an important
ingredient
of becoming a successful songwriter in a very competitive market place
and this
workshop explains how the process can work and each student will
contribute to
the creation of a new song.
The workshop is
designed to have a one-day duration (nominally 6 hours) and breaks down as
follows:
Session 1: (Approx 90 minutes split into 2 sessions)
Why collaborate –
pros and cons?
Choosing a
writing partner.
Who does what?
Delivered with
the aid of visual, aural and printed resources.
Session 2: (Approx 3 hours with a break for
refreshment) Practical writing
session with targeted aims. Students will be working and writing with
assistance provided where required (separate areas required for writing groups
in this session).
Session 3: (Approx 90 minutes split into 2 sessions) Song playback and
positive critique will be conducted in a supportive manner with the workshop
provider happy to perform each song if required.
This timing will
work with groups of up to 12 students, but larger groups could be allocated
over a longer duration workshop. Resources required:
Teaching room
with projector, screen, white board and audio system for music playback. Writing
session will require each group to break out into their own space (small rooms
or quiet corridors are ideal).
COST OF WORKSHOP:
£35 per hour for
workshop and travel
(e.g. 6 hours
workshop + 2 hour total travel = 8 hours = £280.00)
