About this deal

It’s a lengthy procedural with a lot of characters, a non-linear timeline, and it won’t be for everyone but once I got into the story a bit I was well and truly addicted and it’s still a favorite. The Last Party (book one) was one of my favorite reads of 2022 so to say I had high expectations for this new release would be an understatement. Not to be greedy, but please can we have a book 3 because im a little bit obsessed with this cast now! Clare Mackintosh is the multi-award-winning author of New York Times bestseller I LET YOU GO, and Sunday Times bestsellers I SEE YOU, LET ME LIE, AFTER THE END, HOSTAGE, THE LAST PARTY and A GAME OF LIES. A Game of Lies takes us back to the mountains of North Wales introduced by Clare Mackintosh in The Last Party.

I also found the storyline if the relationship between Ffion and Leo rather tiring and trying, and I swiped right through pages and passages after the fifty percent mark to reach the ending quickly. Thank you to SOURCEBOOKS Landmark, Clare Mackintosh and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review. MacKintosh doet dit kunstje in Het Leugenspel nogmaals over en biedt ons een hoop verdachten aan op een presenteerblaadje. After the first episode is broadcast and the nature of the show disclosed to the participants, one contestant goes missing.

I found this book engrossing however as I am not a fan of reality shows, I found the manipulative and devious behaviour of the show’s producer distasteful. A Game of Lies is the second of Clare Mackintosh's series featuring North Wales police detective DC Ffion Morgan. I received a free copy of, A Game of Lies, by Clare Mackintosh, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this installment more than the first one--the pace and plot are balanced, and the mystery is tightly wound. What they thought was a show in the vein of Survivor was, in reality, a show that would expose their deep, dark secrets.

When one of the contestants goes missing before the revelation process, turning it into a murder mystery, the authorities get involved in the investigation. Seven reality show contestants are stranded in the Welsh mountains, and the name of the game is to expose their secrets.

My inner romantic compelled me to give this rating, overriding my usual thriller-seeking, puzzle-loving, mystery-nerd self. As if this circumstance isn't frightening enough, they also have to face their fears in a pond, including falling snakes and spiders if they refuse to come clean about the truth. When Miles Young, the director/producer of the show is killed in the most impossible way, the story takes a turn towards a locked room or something similar to it. Sometimes you have a book that has too much going on, there’s too much info to follow but this book I think has the right amount. The contestants also pique her interest, including Ffion's drinking buddy, postal worker Ceri Jones, who is competing against Pam Butler, an authoritative headteacher, Aliyah Brown, a beautiful childcare practitioner, Jason Shenton, a flirting, charming firefighter, Henry Moore, a tall, dark-haired, wise accountant, Lucas Taylor, the reverend with dark secrets, and Ryan Francis, a man with a troubled past.
