About this deal

You can consider the Joué itself to be something of a blank slate which is configured by the choice of modules installed on it. If the rfid tags are partially shielded and offset from the center, it’s possible to override the the “base” with an instrument pad. At one end is a single USB-C port that carries power to the unit and data from it, and in the box you get USB-C and USB-A cables as well as a USB-C to Lightning, covering pretty much all computers, tablets and smartphones.

Available as direct download in the Joue Play App, Artist Packs invite you to explore the musical worlds of renowned artists with 8 new Signature instruments to add to your library to enrich your creations.

Play and experiment with a multitude of effects by varying the pressure of your fingers to adjust their intensity. This might be interesting, especially coupled with a weight factor and inertia, to add a lot of dynamics to all the notes. The X and Y outputs can be configured to output in high-resolution (14-bit) mode, though in practice the resolution available seemed to be around 9 or 10 bits.

Combined with the ability to layer sounds, you can make multi-part, multi-instrument projects and then export them as audio mixdowns, stems or MIDI files. Anyway yes, I would use your script if you wrote one, thanks so very much for investigating this possibility! The app allows you to easily trigger and layer sounds but, of course, the instrument works with any MIDI-capable software. You play each board according to its design, so the most conventional is the piano, closely followed by drums, then keys and guitar. Play does function as a general MIDI controller so you can hook it up to anything – its use of USB rather than routing via a MIDI interface is a bonus, as is its ultra-portability. With the expressivity of the Joué Play, it’s without a shadow of a doubt that you will find the right sound for your creation.

The Joué Editor software, available with the Pro option, allows you to edit every MIDI message sent with the Play Pads. I have a Play and I’ve enjoyed it quite a bit; so much so that I made a helpful MPE template for FL Studio. I’ve been testing cases for building out the logic and hoo boy there are many cases, some of which have no real solutions atm. Joué have confirmed that this is a bug which will be addressed, so that channel aftertouch will be output smoothly regardless of the number of pads being pressed. Joué Play is equipped with a multi-touch sensor sensitive to changes in pressure and its unique expressiveness is based on the know-how developed in the case of its predecessor Lemur, a pioneer of multi-touch controllers. The last tricky thing is dealing with the notes slipping in and out of colliding, but the inertia function should have that in there. For the guitar and drum pads, these are a selection of different styles, and for the piano and key pads, there are pianos, synths, strings and the like. And it makes no good difference as to how far the fingers are apart - even if they are at opposite ends of the playing surface I still have this problem! I had a lot (if not all) of the modules but it was more like a gadget than a really useful instrument.
