About this deal

Greenfield explains that keratosis pilaris is a condition where dead skin—particularly keratin, builds up around hair follicles instead of being naturally exfoliated away. “This causes small, rough bumps to appear around the hair follicles,” she says. It’s not entirely clear why this buildup of keratin occurs, but it’s thought to be associated with genetic diseases or skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis. Dry skin also tends to intensify the symptoms of keratosis pilaris. If you have very dry skin that is often itchy, the Eucerin Skin Calming Body Wash is a great choice. It has an oily consistency, and contains natural ingredients such as soybean oil and castor oil. These oils are rich in fatty acids which help to soothe itchy skin, and improve the skin’s moisture levels. The formula is both fragrance and soap free and won’t cause skin irritation. The Eucerin Replenishing Face Cream is a great product if you have dry skin along with fine lines, redness, rough patches and scaly skin. The formula contains urea and lactate which not only replenish dry skin, but also help to remove dead skin cells and smooth roughness. Glycerin is the name for this ingredient in American English. British English uses Glycerol/Glycerine.

An oily ingredient that can magically blend with water all by itself (called Self Emulsifying). Other than that it’s a nice emollient that gives a smooth and soft appearance to the skin. Since it contains lactic acid and urea in the ingredient list it may not be suitable for eczema prone or very sensitive skin. The Eucerin moisturizer also does not contain a sunscreen, so would not be suitable to wear outdoors all day. The Eucerin Advanced Repair Lotion contains ingredients which may irritate eczema prone skin. These include urea and lactic acid. It is, however an excellent lotion for extremely dry skin, since it contains ceramide 3 which strengthens the skin’s barrier, and Natural Moisturizing Factors which hydrate the skin and prevent dryness. The product is free from fragrance, dyes and parabens, and suitable for sensitive skin. This is my holy grail moisturizer, I won't use anything else. I'm on Accutane, a medication that makes your skin excruciatingly dry, and I haven't had any trouble with dryness thanks to this stuff. Best skin of my life. Not only a simple moisturizer but knows much more: keeps the skin lipids between our skin cells in a healthy (liquid crystal) state, protects against irritation, helps to restore barrier As for what it's doing in cosmetics, Glutamic acids'main thing (similar to other amino acids) is being a humectant moisturizer and skin-conditioning One of the many types of ceramides that can be found naturally in the upper layer of the skin. Ceramides make upabout 50% of the goopy stuff that's between our skin cells and play a super important role in having a healthy skin barrier and keeping the skin hydrated. CeraVe by comparison is a much more recent brand. It was founded in 2005 by dermatologists who recognised that patients with conditions such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis all had a compromised skin barrier. If you are into chemistry (if not, we understand, just skip this paragraph), the reason is that electrolytes (you know, the Na+ and Cl- ions) screen the electrostatic repulsion between the head groups of ionic surfactants and thus support the formation of long shaped micelles (instead of spherical ones) that entangle like spaghetti, and viola, a gel is formed. However, too much of it causes the phenomenon called "salting out", and the surfactant solution goes runny again. According to The National Sunflower Association, there is evidencethat both the plant and its oil were used by American Indians in the area of Arizona and New Mexico about 3000 BC. A popular, vegetable-derived oil-loving emulsifier that helps water to mix with oil. In itself, it is suitable for water-in-oil emulsions (where water droplets are dispersed in oil), but it is more often used as a co-emulsifier next to other,water-loving emulsifiers.
